Ray Duran VIEW PROFILE

Retired Police Officer Raymond J Duran, age 67, passed away on Friday August 31, 2018.  He was born July 31, 1951 in Las Vegas, NM and was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM.  Ray proudly served his community and country as a member of the New Mexico Air Guard and as an officer for both the Albuquerque Police and Aviation Police Departments.  In addition, He was instrumental in lobbying on behalf of all police officers to pass a law instituting full retirement after twenty years of service. 

Ray was a member of many law enforcement organizations.  He served as president of the NM FOP Albuquerque Lodge 1.  He was a member of the National FOP Diversity Committee, State Narcotics Task force, American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (Southwest conference president).

Ray was a soft spoken and compassionate man who enjoyed being with his family and many friends.  He played Ray J’s Dancing Disco for 23 years and loved music.

He is survived by his wife Dolores, daughters Adele (Michael) and Maria.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caroline, Andrew, and Jacob.  He is survived by his siblings Mike (Birgit), Dianne (Jim), Paul (Carol), John (Lorraine), In-Laws Tom, Jose, Adela (Gene), Butch, Sonja(Richard) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Pauline Duran (Mother), Juan Duran (Father), Susan Gallegos (Sister).
